Look For The Silver Lining--Shoes fall in Baghdad
An Iraqi journalist named Muntadar al-Zaidi, as everyone knows, threw two shoes at President Bush. Happily, the President was not injured. That said, seeing the humor in the incident seems part of the great Iraqi/American tradition.

The President showed impressive agility in avoiding the shoes, there may have been some benefits to him of his experiences in the last eight years.

Insight Into Decisions on Airport and Bridges


Council agreed 5-1 to a scope of work to update the Airport Layout Plan as part of a Master Plan Update.

There are two basic issues the Council identified as priorities. First is establishing an empirical and precise count of airport traffic and identifying the types and numbers of planes involved.

A Pleasant Day at "The Office"

The City Council Workshop, December 4, on the proposed Legacy Park, was very satisfying to me and I hope the public.

Having a workshop meeting specifically to give the public a chance to have an impact on the facilities of the new park, fulfills our wish to increase citizen participation. More than 50 citizens came out to provide ideas, cautions, alternatives, etc., and their messages were clearly heard and impacted on Council's deliberations.

Vermont Community Wrestles With Growth--"yes Virginia, the experience of others may be useful."
Venice faces different issues than this Vermont community, but I think you will find this of interest. I value the planning experience of other communities, recently started reviewing the Comprehensive Plan of Mt. Dora, Florida. Recent appointees to the Planning Commission have had planning commission experience in Venice or in other communities.
