Wonderful food--Wonderful new American citizen

Those of you who have been following Insideveniceflorida.com since 2006 or so may recall that I wrote about the Thai Bistro when it was a tiny storefront with about four tables. I highly recommended it.

Now the restaurant, at 537 B Venice Avenue (between the Intracoastal and R.41) is larger, more beautifully decorated, and better than ever. That is such good news because many times larger means the end of quality and service.

Short-term Rentals Take Center Stage
Council held a workshop on the subject of short-term rentals Friday, June 20th. This issue has been the frequent subject of citizen concern and discussion in council meetings and a previous attempt to limit the practice resulted in the City losing a court suit on the basis that the current zoning regulations did not specifically prohibit short-term rentals in single family neighborhoods.Consultant, David DePew indicated that the ruling did not say such regulation was unlawful, just that the Ven

City Attorney Robert Anderson "Calls Out" Herald Tribune reporter Kim Hackett.
In what was a historic departure from his 19 year record as City Attorney and as a person who does not respond to phone calls from reporters, Bob Anderson decided to straighten out the Herald Tribune and its reporter, Kim Hackett. Hackett decided a meeting that never happened and a social event where no business was discussed, were an unannounced public meeting. Of course, she had no facts, just her mistaken notions which she reported as facts.

Progress Report for First Six Months
Meanwhile ,back at the ranch, work goes on and progress is being made. The comprehensive plan is being revised to preserve the "Venice We Love;" more citizen involvement across the board is assured, and the airport planning is progressing.
